ROLE-PLAY BACKSTORY
The 1980s, somewhere in the French Overseas Territories,
in South America, French Guiana.
The atmosphere is hot and humid as once you set foot on the ground of Le Messire Airfield and step out of one of the LC Airways planes. You quickly realize that your luggage is stored with other curious packages, oily men in dirty tank tops unload everything from the plane's cargo hold, South American music can be heard in the distance on a crackling radio. Meanwhile, you can see some old men in an old sheet metal building staring at you from a distance, apparently wearing French military uniforms from another age, from a bygone era.
You timidly step up to the big white wooden gate of the Chateau Motel and you can hear people laughing in the distance with typical music of the time, water and pool noises. At the entrance, the Chateau Motel staff welcomes you with open arms, offering you a typical cocktail and escorting you to your room or bungalow in the campsite. The air is fresh, the grass green as ever and the vegetation lush, this contrast with the airfield makes you feel uncomfortable but the atmosphere remains pleasant.
Here you are finally in your room, then you look through the window and see a whole traffic of strange packages outside, people in suits heading towards an unusual building in the shape of a Flying Saucer, others in East German uniforms carrying a well-stocked briefcase towards the exit. You may hear rocket launches in the distance and notice visible smoke and fire rising into the sky, as the European Space Agency's space center in Kourou is not far from the motel. ...What did you get into? Welcome to the Chateau Motel, in the 80s.
The Chateau Motel was founded in French Guiana by the head of the family Antoine Montagne, a powerful French drug cartel leader.
The location is quite ideal, in French territory but in the deep jungle of French Guiana at the doorstep of all the cocaine dealers and close to Florida, only a few hours by plane is enough to reach the USA.
The Chateau Motel is a rear base of the international cocaine traffic and most certainly of the secret services of the Eastern bloc, suspicious agents of the HVA would have been spotted around. Some say that even CIA agents would be present wearing a pair of sunglasses and disguised as Tony Montana with a Hawaiian shirt.
The place is said to have gained a good reputation recently in the French Michelin Guide for its excellent customer service in such a remote place as French Guiana. Swimming pools, theme rooms, camping, airfield, restaurant, Minitel service, all in a warm and tropical atmosphere with quick access to the coastal marinas by car.
